Jana Hocking talked about a "rude" dating sin in her latest column.

The radio host spoke about how “Red Ferrari Syndrome” can blight first dates.

She told news.com.au : “Now let me explain it to you. You know when you’re casually walking along the street and all of a sudden the traffic lights turn green and a gorgeous, shiny, red Ferrari drives past.

“You stop what you are doing and are momentarily distracted by the glory of it…

“Now apply that to a date. Perhaps you’re sitting at a bar having a jolly good time, when suddenly a glamazon walks past.

“You may be midway through telling a hilarious story about the time you tripped over a chair, when suddenly your date loses eye contact, as his jaw drops to the floor and his whole body turns to watch the magnificent creature walk past.”

Jana lifted the lid on 'Red Ferrari Syndrome'

Understandably, catching your date ogling someone else isn’t a nice feeling.

And according to Jana, it can leave dates “dead in the water”.

The singleton recalled an experience that left her rushing to the bathroom to replay what happened.

A bloke she was seeing had got up off his stool and “turned (his) whole body in a bid to connect eyes” with another woman.

She tried to laugh off the awkward moment but the chap “changed the subject”.

Jana said Red Ferrari Syndrome made her swerve a goodnight kiss from the "rude" bloke

Jana couldn’t dispel the awkwardness so she called time on the brief romance.

She admitted: “As he walked me home he tried to hold my hand, and then went in for the kiss at my front gate, but you see, the moment was ruined.

“A cheeky glance I can totally understand, but the full body, get out of your seat and have a crack at eye contact situation … well … it really kills a vibe.”

Jana shared her experience as a warning sign to others who think they can get away with checking other people out during a date.

Don’t do it OK – or at least try and be more subtle about it!
