A fuming Aldi customer launched a bizarre rampage and left customers stunned when she smashed hundreds of bottles of booze in store
The hooded woman remained silent as she lobbed bottles of gin at innocent shoppers and sent thousands of pounds worth of drink crashing to the floor.
The five-minute ordeal took place at the budget supermarket’s branch in Hertfordshire on Wednesday afternoon.
Dressed in a dark hoody and brown trousers, with a grey backpack, the apparent vandal put her arm into the shelves before dragging glass bottles over the edge.
Glass can be heard smashing as she falls over the mess she has created with a huge trail of chaos behind her.
The aisle is littered with smashed bottles and spilled booze as staff watch on helplessly.
As well as dragging bottles the woman picks up individual spirits and chucks them overarm at the floor.
A security guard from a nearby store detained her by “bear-hugging” her before she was arrested by cops around 2.30pm, The Sun reported.
Police arrested her on the spot and she is currently being treated in hospital for cuts to her hands.
The footage, shared online, was caught by a gobsmacked customer and has infuriated others.
A spokeswoman for Aldi told Daily Star a police investigation was underway.
A police spokesman told The Daily Star: “Police were called at around 2.30pm on Wednesday to report an incident at the Aldi supermarket in Fairlands Way, Stevenage.
“It was reported that several bottles of alcohol had been thrown onto the floor and smashed.
“Officers attended and a woman has been arrested.”
The spokesperson added: "She was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries to her hands and is now in police custody."
