A man allegedly tried to avoid paying for his £55 platter of food by covering his plate with his own pubes, a restaurant owner has claimed.

But things soon got hairy when the restaurant owner in Blackburn, Lancashire, watched back the CCTV tape minutes after he kicked up a fuss.

The two diners had ordered £67 worth of food at popular Jaan's BBQ Kitchen Restaurant and Grill.

But they weren't happy with what was on offer - and tried to avoid paying the bill.

The restaurateur claims the footage shows one of the men shoving his hands down the front of his shorts twice.

He then "sprinkles something" over the remaining kebabs, lamb chops and curries.

A restaurant boss has accused the diner of trying to dodge the bill

Owner Ahmed Waseem, 47, says the men then made a huge scene, claiming they'd found someone else's hair in their food.

They allegedly refused to pay and started shouting and swearing at the businessman and his staff during the clash.

Ahmed and his team guessed something wasn't right when they spotted pube-like hairs in the man's biryani, kebabs and naan breads.

So they checked the CCTV and made the grim discovery.

The restaurant boss says that CCTV footage proves the diner put pubes on the meal

"When my son showed me the video everybody was shocked," said Ahmed. "It was disgusting and a disaster."

A 10-minute row ensued, after which the two men chucked £20 - less than a third of their bill - at the waiter and stormed out.

Ahmed reported it to police, who have been approached for comment.

He added: "When he entered my restaurant he ordered a big platter, I told him it's a £55 platter for four people. He said he was hungry."

But Ahmed claims the young men - who he says looked 26 or 27 years old - suddenly went berserk and started abusing him.

Ahmed added: "He was speaking bad words and shouting and said: 'Look, the hair is in the food'.

"I apologised and said we will give you new food, he was asking for us to give him money back.

"I apologised because the customer is always right, he was shouting and saying: 'Look f***ing here money isn't the problem.'

"The problem here is young people who are insulting to me."

CCTV footage also appears to show one man plucking hairs from his head and dropping them on the food.
