Heartwarming footage of a golden retriever looking after a nest of bunnies has tugged at the heart-strings of millions across the world.
Dog Bailey lives with the cute bunnies and their owner Taras in the Costa del Sol in Spain.
Adorable footage shared to Taras’ YouTube channel shows how the furry creatures treat the goldie like their own parent.
They snuggle up to the dog and lie under his fur. Several then gather together and lie between Bailey’s paws.
More than 7.5 million people have viewed the footage since it was posted last month.
Despite being male, the rabbits’ interaction with Bailey led Taras to explain in the caption to the clip that the “baby bunnies think the golden retriever is their mother”.
“Look at how little rabbits lay near Bailey they probably decided that the dog is their mother,” he added in the description.
Taras has since spoken exclusively to Daily Star Online about the unlikely friendship between his pets.
He believes the bunnies treat Bailey like a parent “because he is very kind to them and he loves them very much”.
“The bunnies always share their food with Bailey and he even steals hay from them,” the owner continued.
While they seem to have adopted themselves into the goldie’s family, the bunnies do still live with their real mum.
Taras explained that the parent, named Charlotte, was saved “from the hands of people who catch rabbits in private homes”.
He added: “Bailey has looked after them from the day they were born.
“This beautiful story from the day they were born is documented on our channel.”
It is not the first time a dog has been filmed forming an unlikely friendship with another animal.
One cute pooch was dubbed the “world’s most gentle” dog after his morning routine with a tortoise went viral.
