Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were reportedly celebrating Halloween in style when the couple received a phone call from Kensington Palace four months into their relationship, a royal biographer has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex whirlwind romance began in July 2016 after Meghan met Prince Harry through a mutual friend in London.
For the first few months, the couple kept things quiet and were able to enjoy each other’s company without being in the public eye.
Royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand claim the couple even went to a Halloween party on October 29 at Soho Hoho in Toronto.
Wearing Venetian-style masks, Meghan and Harry were able to "party anonymously," Scobie and Durand say in Finding Freedom, without anybody knowing they were celebrating "alongside a prince".
Scobie and Durand write: "They especially didn't feel like spending Halloween weekend in hiding, as there was much to celebrate.
"Some four months into their relationship, they were madly in love and eager to take part in the fun of one of their favourite holidays.
"The evening of October 29, with Harry in town, the couple decided to go to a big costume party being thrown at Soho House in Toronto."
It is said to have been the "perfect" evening until a phone call from Kensington Palace ruined the night with bad news.
The authors write: "A cocktail or so into the party, they were both feeling relaxed, absorbing the Halloween spirit.
"It was possibly the perfect night out - until they received a call from one of Harry's aides at Kensington Palace. It wasn't good news."
Following the call, Meghan and Harry made the tough decision to leave the party and go back to Meghan’s apartment.
It was reported at the time the night in question is when news of their love story broke, upset and angry their secret was out.
Prince Harry’s Kensington Palace team are believed to have wanted hit to cut his holiday short, but he stayed in Canada by Meghan’s side as news finally spread on October 31 of their relationship.
On the same day, Markle posted a sweet photo on her Instagram of two bananas spooning, possibly hinting at the new love in her life.
