This year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the Royal Family after stepping down as senior members and taking the plunge to earn their own money.

But they're not the only royals who decided to forge their own careers.

Although they faced backlash over stepping away from the Royal Family, they embarked on a path that many others have done so before them.

Despite being born into the monarchy, some members have decided to live a far more "normal" life.

Below is a list of royals you probably didn't know, who have been slumming it in normal jobs including a career in finance, a model, painter and even a personal trainer.

Princess Eugenie – Director of an art gallery

Princess Eugenie Victoria Helena is the sixth grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II – despite being tenth in line of succession to the throne, she has a normal job as the Director of an art gallery.

In 2015 she was an associate director working for Hauser & Wirth art gallery, before being promoted to director in 2017.

The "normal" 30-year-old royal studied English literature and history of art and received a 2:1 in her degree in 2012.

Although the princess does not have to worry about earning money, she has still decided to carve herself a career.

In an statement made in 2016, her dad, Prince Andrew, spoke proudly of his daughters and the idea of them building careers.

People magazine reports he said: "As a father, my wish for my daughters is for them is to be modern working young women, who happen to be members of the Royal Family, and I am delighted to see them building their careers.

"When they do support the Royal Family in its work this is very much appreciated by my family and most importantly by those organisations and to those for whom their participation makes such a difference."

Princess Beatrice – VP of a software company

The elder daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York is ninth in line of succession to the throne.

Despite being Prince Harry and William's first cousin, the princess did not shy away from working in Selfridges during her gap year as a personal shopper for work experience.

According to the BBC, a spokeswoman said: "She wanted to get experience of a big retail store and its buying process."

Since graduating from Goldsmiths College in 2011, the princess has gone on to work full time and as of 2017, she assumed a role as Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy at Afiniti, a software company.

On the official website of the company, her bio reads: "Beatrice York is Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy at Afiniti.

"Beatrice is responsible for the management of the strategic Afiniti partnerships as well as company growth through unique initiatives and client development.

"Previous experience includes; associate at Sandbridge capital a small consumer focused private equity firm.

"Business development associate at Sony pictures television. Beatrice began her career as a research analyst at a boutique private wealth firm."

Arthur Chatto – Personal trainer

Queen Elizabeth's great nephew and 26th in line to the throne, Arthur Chatto, previously carried out a key role in the Royal Family, before venturing out.

The grandson of Queen Elizabeth II's younger sister Princess Margaret took on the role as Page of Honour from 2009 until 2015, according to Tatler.

However, he lives a far less formal lifestyle now and has taken a keen interest in sports, even making it as a career.

The personal trainer can be seen travelling and rowing on his Instagram, and hardly portrays the image of a traditional royal.

Lady Amelia Windsor – Model

The 25-year-old English model is 39th in line to the throne and the third cousin of Prince William and Harry.

Amelia is signed to Storm Model Management and has had a colourful career despite her young age, she appeared on the cover of Tatler magazine in 2016.

In 2017 the royal even walked the ramp for Dolce & Gabbana at Milan Fashion Week. reported Vogue.

Along with this, the model has worked with major designer brands such as Chanel and even interned at BVLGARI.

Tatler even crowned her as "the most beautiful member of the Royal Family."

Lady Sarah Chatto – Painter

Though many might not consider this a "normal" job – Lady Sarah Chatto works as a painter and has previously slummed it working as an intern in the wardrobe department of the film, A Passage To India.

Lady Sarah is the only daughter of Princess Margaret – Queen Elizabeth's sister – and is currently 24th in line to the throne.

She is well-known in the art industry and from December 2015 until April 2016 the Redfern Gallery even exhibited her paintings, under the name "Sarah Armstrong–Jones."

The artist has won awards for her work, including The Windsor & Newton Prize in 1988 and The Creswick Landscape Prize in 1990.

Alongside this, the royal is vice-president of The Royal Ballet.
