Karla Faye Tucker had been on death row for 14 years before she was strapped onto a gurney and injected with a lethal cocktail of drugs.
The 38-year-old had been serving time for brutally killed two of her neighbours with a pickaxe while high on speed and alcohol.
Her murder spree made headlines when Tucker told cops she enjoyed slaughtering her neighbours so much she climaxed while killing them.
On the 37th anniversary of her death, bizarre and bloody details about her crimes have resurfaced, forcing the deceased murderer back into the limelight.
Tucker, born in Houston, Texas, had a troubled childhood, and started taking drugs and having sex at the age of 12.
She dropped out of school at the age of 14 and was forced into prostitution, hanging out with bikers in her late teens.
By 21, she had met her partner Daniel Garrett, then 35, and on June 13th 1983 the pair broke into the apartment of Jerry Lynn Dean to steal a motorbike he had been restoring.
During the burglary, the pair went into Jerry’s room and Tucker threw herself on top of him, and in a struggle, he grabbed her.
Garrett picked up a hammer he found on the floor, and hit Jerry on the head several times before leaving the room.
Tucker then picked up a three-foot pickaxe that was resting against the wall, and began hitting Jerry to silence him.
In an interview with police, Tucker later claimed she reached orgasm with every blow made to Jerry’s head.
After she killed Jerry, Tucker turned on Jerry's cowering girlfriend, Deborah Thornton, 32, and launched an axe into her heart.
Examinations of Jerry and Deborah's bodies found they had been repeatedly stabbed in the chest, Jerry receiving a total of 28 stab wounds, along with a fatal skull fracture, and Deborah from multiple stab wounds to the chest and heart.
The victims were discovered the next morning by Jerry's co-worker and police investigations led to the arrest of Tucker and Garrett five weeks after the killings.
Tucker entered a plea of not guilty but was charged for both murders, while Garrett was charged with just Jerry's.
She became known as a "Born-Again Christian" in prison and her charming character won her legions of fans on the outside.
