Juliana Lopez was jailed for 15 years in July 2015 in China’s Guangdong province for drug trafficking.
She is currently being kept in Guangzhou Women’s Prison and reportedly told family members the country is “going crazy for the virus”.
Lopez reportedly told her father Carlos Mario Lopez that everyone is under “strict quarantine” and guards have not changed since Chinese New Year on January 24th.
Mario told local reporters: "They have not changed guard since Chinese New Year which was on 24th January.
"They have them in quarantine, nobody goes out, nobody goes in, even the food is running out.
"This country is going crazy for this virus, there are a lot of security measures.
"They have us all the time washing our hands with chlorine,"and added that “everybody is locked up here, we are not allowed to go out”.
The pretty model said prison visits have been banned and guards are all wearing masks for their own safety.
Juliana is only allowed to call home once a month so he was surprised she called again towards the end of January.
Mario said his wife and Juliana's aunt are both in China but are believed to be in good health and following instructions from authorities.
China has confirmed 17,480 cases of the coronavirus in mainland China totalling 362 deaths.
