A woman who fell asleep on a flight from Las Vegas to Detroit claims she woke up because she felt a warm, damp sensation and realised she was being urinated on by “a well-known pastor from North Carolina.”
Alicia Beverly was on her way home from America’s party capital on Monday, and like most of the passengers on the early-morning flight was tired and sleepy.
But she woke up, she told Fox News, when she noticed something unusual: "It felt warm, like on the side of me I felt something warm.”
Alicia opened her eyes and says she saw something unexpected… and unwelcome.
"I jumped up and I [saw] his private area out and I screamed and that woke everybody up," she said.
"By that time I actually looked at him and I see him shake himself off and I’m like ‘this man just peed on me!’ I looked and there was a puddle of pee in the seats!”
Luckily an off-duty police officer was on the plane and he came over and returned the incontinent clergyman to his seat.
Alicia says she had no choice but to remain in the seat, wearing her soaking-wet clothes, for the rest of the flight.
She says she was exhausted when she got home and couldn’t stay awake for the full day: ”I left work yesterday because I couldn’t stay but I had to tell them why I needed to leave. It was a ‘lot’.
“My anxiety was really high literally. Since then I have only gotten four hours of sleep," she said.
The alleged piddling pastor was taken into custody when the flight landed at Detroit Metro in Romulus, Michigan. His office declined to respond to enquiries but early reports suggest the accused may have had “an unusual reaction to sleep medication.”
Offences committed on flights in the US are the province of the FBI.
It has not yet been revealed whether the pastor will be charged.
