A vegan who was slammed on social media for screaming abuse in McDonald’s has tried to defend her actions by saying she had just been hit with cow poo.
Frances Woods was filmed on Friday in a rant against meat-eaters having spent the day protesting against the shipping of 3,800 live cattle from New Zealand to China.
In the clip, the hysterical vegan screamed: “There are cows on the f***ing ship and they are alive and they have souls.”
Frances has now claimed she was hit by cow poo from truckers moments before she stormed the McDonald's.
In footage shared by New Zealand Herald, liquid appeared to be spilt by a truck in front of her which then supposedly covered her car.
Frances told NZ Herald that the drivers also "pulled fingers at us".
“One of the truck drivers had the nerve to dump the effluent right where we were protesting,” she added. “It was feral. Some of us got splashed.”
The vegan said she was then driving home and ended up “sandwiched” between two trucks.
She claimed they started yelling at her "do you want a burger?" and tried to antagonise her.
"These men were proud with what they were doing to these New Zealand cows, and they wanted to rub it in my face," Frances said.
"They targetted me simply because I care about animals. It was foul. I was so angry."
Frances said she then followed the men into McDonald’s to confront them over their actions, but has since faced backlash and even death threats on social media.
She said: “I know I shouldn't have yelled in McDonald's but I was yelling for the cows.
“I don't want to attack dairy farmers, I'm coming at it from an animal welfare angle.
“The places we export animals to do not have animal standards. It's not natural to put animals on a ship.
"There will be dead animals on that ship. And they get thrown overboard into the ocean. The cyberbullying just shows how detached people have become from humanity."
