A blonde bombshell says she is still scarred by bullies who made her life a misery by calling her fat.
Lucy-Rose Hickman, 24, was inspired by her cousin’s weight loss in October last year to immediately take full control of her body.
Weighing in at 13st 8lbs and unhappy with the way she looked and felt, it took Lucy less than a year of careful eating and home workouts to become almost unrecognisable.
The beautician at Prestige beauty boutique in Stockport admits she is struggling to get used to compliments from strangers instead of wicked insults.
Lucy-Rose from Manchester said: “I was about seven-years-old when I started gaining weight and all through school I've been bullied about it, when ever I’d go out people would shout things at me, or point and laugh.
“It has definitely left mental scars on me, even now being a size 10 I still feel like meeting new people or going out in public places people are judging me or looking and laughing.
“I wouldn’t say people treat me any differently but I would say I get a lot more compliments and attention from people than I did before.”
To celebrate her new body, Lucy-Rose took to TikTok to show off her stunning three stone transformation.
The clip ended up going viral with 44,000 views and hundreds of comments.
Lucy-Rose explained her lifestyle needed an overhaul if she was to feel more comfortable in her own skin.
She said: “I decided to lose weight last year, it's always something that bothered me and i've struggled with.
“I was just never in the right mindset to commit to a lifestyle change, until I saw my cousin who I live with doing Slimming World.
“It spurred me on to join and after the first week I lost 5lbs in seven days. I was exited to carry on because not only was I losing weight, I felt better physically and mentally straight away.”
While her friends got their legs out on girls holidays, Lucy-Rose used to stay covered up through fear of strangers commenting on her body.
Having the confidence to wear a new summer clothes has been an unexpected bonus to Lucy’s three stone weight loss.
Lucy-Rose said: “One huge achievement I've made now I’ve lost weight is wearing skirts above my knee.
“Never in my life have I worn anything shorter than a midi skirt before with being so self conscious of my legs, before I'd even wear jeans on holiday and thick tights in the summer.
“So it feels great to feel comfortable with my legs on show, I remember the feeling of stepping out the house that first day with a dress on and the feeling was so strange, I was so anxious but I did it.
Instead of opting for a dangerous fad diet, Lucy-Rose credits Slimming World and then working out to YouTube videos when the pandemic struck.
She added: “I’ve been following Slimming world since October. It's amazing, I would recommend it to any one looking for a healthy lifestyle change that is going to work and is so easy to do.
“I’ve never felt hungry, I never felt like I've missed out on anything, which I can imagine some fad diets would do. Also the help and support from your consultant and team is a huge bonus.
“At first I was only dieting then during lockdown I started doing home workouts, I've never had the confidence to go to a gym so home workouts and youtube videos are great for me.
“I'm in a new relationship now after meeting during my weight loss. He thinks I look great is still supporting me as I join the gym for the first time.”
