A family's new dog ended up looking like a Smurf after a woman left a pot of oil paint unattended near him.
The pooch was left sporting an unusual look after he accidentally turned a violent shade of turquoise.
The owner tweeted a dramatic picture of the new look- but reassured people that that they took him to the vet.
She tweeted: "MY NEW DOG GOT INTO MY OIL PAINT????"
The hilarious photo show the chihuahua looking embarrassed, with his once white fur a vibrant shade of blue.
The owner took to social media shortly after to share the incident.
The dog decided to explore the woman's oil paints after discovering them in their new home, resulting in the colourful look.
The photo of the Chihuahua have been shared more than 8,000 likes, prompted some hilarious comments.
One person joked: "That’s not your dog anymore that’s Picasso’s dog."
Another added: "That ain’t a dog it a Smurf."
A third person wrote: "It's a Van Dogh."
Luckily her owner said the canine was "all right", adding: "We took him to the vet and called poison control and everything."
And she shared a follow-up picture - which revealed that their efforts to scrub the paint away hadn't been totally successful.
A fellow pet owner sympathised: "HAHAHAHAHA this happened to my cat on her paws and she was running around the house leaving blue oil paint paw prints everywhere lmaoooo."
A dog owner agreed, adding: "Looool. They are a f****** nuisance."
