A McDonald's worker has claimed to show the way eggs are cooked at the fast-food giant with a behind-the-scenes video.
There are rumours that the successful burger brand uses "fake eggs" – but here they are seen being cooked in-store using a special machine that can heat them in large batches.
In a clip, uploaded on TikTok by user @austin.martinn, a kitchen worker carefully cracks dozens of fresh eggs and places them in a tray lined with egg-sized holes.
When each egg is sitting in the tray, the Maccie's worker pulls the metal lid down and cooks them in the clever machine.
He then adds some water into the top of the machine so that the top of the eggs are set by the hot steam.
A digital display flashes "done" when the eggs are cooked – with the McDonald's chef using a pair of tongs to handle the freshly-made filling.
The video has been watched more than 1.2 million times and many viewers said they had no idea that McDonald's use "real" eggs and expressed their shock in the comments below.
"See the eggs are real! How many people have told me the eggs aren’t real," said one user.
A second stunned person wrote: "The eggs come in packets what?"
People who said they had also worked for the burger chain confirmed that there are special egg-cooking machines on the premises.
"I work at McDonald’s as well and it’s true they use real eggs," wrote one.
A second viewer said: "Worked at McDonald's, I can confirm this is true."
This comes after a McDonald's worker shared how the burgers can be built super fast using a clever conveyor system.
