Fruit flies can be quite annoying and tend to linger around bins or near decaying foods.

The population of the bugs can multiply quite quickly if female fruit flies are around.

So it's very important to tackle the situation then and there to avoid more from coming.

One Mrs Hinch fan was inspired by the guru and shared her cleaning hack for tackling the insects.

Posting on the popular Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips group on Facebook, the woman revealed all about getting rid of the bugs.

She said: "Tried this hack on getting rid of fruit flies and it worked within minutes."

The woman continued: "Great for home made fruit flies trap...

"Apple cider vinegar and spoonful of sugar, covered in clingfilm and a few small holes in the middle.

"It's worked great today."

Fruit flies tend to rely on their sense of smell to feed themselves, which is why apple cider vinegar works a treat.

Apple cider vinegar gives a pungent smell which is great for attracting flies as they mistake it for food.

Dozens of members rushed to comment on the woman's handy trick.

One suggested: "You don't have to use the plastic wrap, it works just as fine without it."

Another advised using banana as apple cider vinegar didn't work for her.

The mum explained: "The banana one seems to be the best so far!

"I've got a bowl of smashed up banana… with cling film tightly over the top with some small holes."

Meanwhile, a third suggested using a bottle of wine to trap the flies.

The neck of the bottle makes it difficult for the bugs to climb back out again.
