Peel, slice and add to your favourite dish

In the photo, she showed six eggs in a metal pan with a slice of lemon.

The snap read: “Put a lemon wedge into the water while you boil the eggs.

“That’s it.

“Then, the peel will slide off that egg no matter how fresh.”

The tip is perfect for those who struggle with peeling

Usually, eggs are easier to peel when they are not as fresh, so this is a handy tip if you’ve just bought your eggs.

But, why does it work?

Well, the acidity of the lemon juice – which is made of partly citric acid – could break down the calcium in the shell.

For this reason, you could also try adding just lemon juice or some vinegar instead.

Whatever you have to hand in the cupboard.

Facebook foodies were keen to give the hack a try themselves.

One person wrote: “Wow, what a great tip!”

“I’m so going to try this,” added another.

Another person gave their advice, and said: “Don't know if I can add to the good advice, but if you crack the eggs shells and throw them back in the water for a while then the shells also just rub off.”

“This will definitely be very helpful,” said a fourth poster.
