Tesco customers have been warned that they should make themselves familiar with new changes this week.
As coronavirus continues to spread, Tesco will be making changes to its stores soon.
Tesco issued the update on their website, stating: “To make sure we’re doing everything possible to reduce the risk of infection for our customers and colleagues, we’ll be introducing new social distancing measures in our stores soon.”
Firstly, the supermarket will have staff at the entrances to remind customers about the safety measures in place.
This includes reminding those eligible to wear face coverings.
If necessary, staff will limit the flow of people coming into the stores.
Hand sanitisers will be available around the stores for customers and colleagues to use, as well as cleaning products for trolleys and baskets.
Some stores will have directional floor markings, as well as new signs to create a “safe flow of movement”.
There will also be “new floor makings to help you to keep a safe distance from others while waiting to pay”.
As well as installing protective screens at checkouts, Tesco is also aiming to create separate entrances and exits at stores, where possible.
Tesco is also urging customers to shop on your own, to reduce the number of people in-store.
However, the supermarket added: “We understand that this is not always possible, so if you need to bring children with you or shop with a carer, you are welcome to do so.”
You are encouraged to use a card or contactless payment option.
And lastly, customers are urged to avoid shopping during their dedicated times for vulnerable and elderly people.
Tesco added: “And please be kind to our colleagues, as they’re working hard to serve you; we’re all in this together.”
