The embarrassment of sending a private message to the wrong person can be hard to live down.
Mortified TikTok user @Avemay shared her own unfortunate experience when she accidentally messaged her parents some cringe details about her sex life.
It's fair to say that they really weren't impressed by the content of the message, Mirror Online reports.
In fact, it's possible that they're currently driving to her university to pick her up and bring her home.
Her video describing what has happened has gone viral, with nearly half a million views.
The student captioned the awkward clip with: "The most awkward morning of my life."
In the clip, she shows a group chat filled with messages from herself and her mum and dad.
She wrote: "When you text the family group chat for permission to hu [hookup] with a boy when you're blackout."
In the doomed group chat, she messaged: "I'm bout to hook up with this kid. Is it fine?"
Her parents immediately responded with her mum blasting: "What?? Avery BEHAVE!! Were you hacked?"
Her dad added: "Huuuuuh. What? Kidding. Not Funny????"
Avery mistakenly responded: "Did u leave?"
Catching on a bit too late to save it, she adds: "Sorry wrong person."
Lots of viewers sympathised in the comments but reckoned she could have handled the fallout better with a simple white lie.
One woman commented: "Girl just say it was a prank!!"
Another joked: "I would simply pass away."
Someone else asked: "Why didn't you just say you were kidding?"
"I always say its for a prank on Twitter when this happened," a fourth wrote.
