A mum-of-four claims to know the correct way to drain your pasta – and it might just prove that we’ve all been doing it wrong.
Shannon Doherty has become a TikTok sensation in recent months thanks to her helpful life hacks, which she posts on her account @athomewithshannon.
Just yesterday, she shared her top-three tricks to make food shopping a lot easier.
But her latest video may just be the most helpful one yet.
Shannon was asked to show her fans “the life hack that you randomly saw one day that is now and unconscious standard practice in your life”.
She starts by lifting up a pan filled with cooked pasta and pretends to pour it out into a sieve which is in the sink – perhaps the common method of draining the food.
But she shakes her head and instead puts the sieve inside the pot, tips it over, and lets the water escape while the pasta remains inside.
Despite only being posted a mater of hours ago, Shannon’s video has already been seen more than 1.4 million times.
She captioned it: “How was I doing this wrong my whole life? This was one of those life hacks that I use every day.”
Many viewers were astounded that they had never come across the simple trick, with one saying: “Omg. I can actually say I am today years old when I learned this. Why hasn’t anyone shared this? Never seen this before.”
Another wrote: “What? I was today’s year old when I learned this.”
But not everyone was sold on the life hack, with several viewers claiming that it led to their pasta getting “squished”.
