It was claimed that Vinnie, 55, said he was "too good" to appear on the chat show alongside Gemma, 39, who walked off set mid-interview for 15 minutes.
Big Narstie, 34, and Mo Gilligan, 31, were left waiting for Gemma's return to the set while production staff and the live studio audience were left bewildered.
It's believed that Gemma went away to calm down while having a cigarette following Saturday's incident.
Speaking to MailOnline, a source said: "The audience loved Gemma and were enjoying her interview with Big Narstie.
"But the atmosphere turned after Vinnie made comments about Gemma, she clearly felt uncomfortable so stormed off stage.
"It was a shame she felt the need to leave and go backstage for a cigarette as she kept the studio audience and production team waiting – no one knew if she was even going to come back."
A source close to the former car saleswoman said: "Gemma was naturally upset after Vinnie made unfair remarks about her reality series.
"Vinnie turned his nose up at a clip from Diva Forever and even pretended to walk off stage in embarrassment of being on the same show as Gemma. "
They continued: "At one point he even grabbed a traffic cone from side of stage to put in between him and Gemma as they sat side-by-side on the sofa.
"She took some time out from the interview with Big Narstie to have a cigarette but returned to filming after fifteen minutes."
Gemma appeared on the show alongside Vinnie and comedian Guz Khan.
The Essex diva will make her return with Diva Forever later this year.
Daily Star has approached Vinnie Jones and Gemma Collins for comment.
The Big Narstie Show returns to Channel 4 at 11:05pm, this Friday
