Singer Grimes has been slammed on Twitter for appearing to be happy about contracting coronavirus.
The artist, who is in a relationship with the world's richest man Elon Musk, took to Instagram over the weekend and revealed her positive result with her 1.6million followers.
The 32-year-old wrote: "Finally got Covid but weirdly enjoying the Dayquil fever dream 2021", while also plugging a song she was enjoying – Good Days by Sza.
Some Twitter users interpreted her post as her being happy that she had picked up Covid-19, considering the global damage it had caused, with 1.95million deaths worldwide and more than 90m cases.
"Why is she saying finally like it's a good thing?" one asked.
Another said: "'Finally got Covid' Girl acting like it's a new makeup pallet she's been waiting to arrive."
A third wrote: "I'm so glad she's enjoying having Covid while people are dying, having permanent damage and losing their jobs and homes because of this virus."
Someone else commented: "WTF is wrong with her head?"
A fifth added: "Bye, why is she celebrating the fact she got Covid?"
And a sixth joked: "Finally? She's rich, she could have bought it sooner if she wanted it so bad. Weird people."
However others suggested an alternative view of Grimes' words, saying she actually wasn't celebrating her positive diagnosis.
One explained: "She probably means finally as in it was only a matter of time being that most people around her (including Elon) probably got it. Not 'Yay I finally got Covid' What's wrong with y'all?"
Grimes – real name Claire Elise Boucher – is in a relationship with billionaire Elon Musk, and together they have one child – X Æ A-12.
Musk is the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, as well as being heavily involved in a number of other companies.
He became the richest person in the world, with an estimated wealth of $158billion (£billion), when Tesla's share price rose last week.
The entrepreneur overtook Amazon boss Jeff Bezos, who had previously been the richest person in the world since 2017.
Meanwhile, Grimes and her billionaire boyfriend caused an internet storm when they revealed the name of their child last year.
Given the unconventional name – X Æ A-12 – many wondered how to pronounce it.
Musk said in May 2020: "It's just X, the letter X. And then, the Æ is, like, pronounced 'Ash', and then, A-12. A-12 is my contribution."
