Former X Factor contestant Ariel Burdett was dead in bed undiscovered for days after her death, an inquest heard.
The 38-year-old, who was born Amy, took her own life at her home in Leeds, West Yorkshire, in November 2019.
Ariel shot to fame after she auditioned for the X Factor in 2008.
She performed an original song for the panel of judges, which comprised of Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Danii Minogue and Cheryl.
Pathologist Dr Lisa Barker told Wakefield Coroner's Court that Ariel died after a cut to her neck and drug toxicity.
In a pre-inquest hearing in 2019, the court was told that concerns were raised for Ariel's welfare.
This led to her landlord making a visit to her property weeks before her death.
A locksmith joined employees of the landlord at the property eight days later.
This came after Ariel didn't respond to messages.
It was previously heard that Ariel had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
It was rules soon after that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Ariel's death.
Psychiatrist Jamie Pick told the court Ariel had "strength of character," The Sun reported.
He said: "Ara was one of those people who was very memorable.
"She had a strength of character and there was a liveliness about her that people related to and they had a real fondness for her.
"She was passionate.
"Fiercely independent, she wanted to be in control."
Ariel had one of the most memorable auditions on the X Factor after she ripped her label off and said she was a "human being, not a number".
Ariel went on to inform the judges that she was a "specialist and not a generalist" and worked as a "holistic vocal coach".
