Alex Telles has arrived at the training ground of Manchester United.

The 27-year-old is set to join the Red Devils from Porto on the final day of the transfer window following a disappointing summer of incoming deals at Old Trafford.

The Brazil international is set to be joined by Edinson Cavani at United following the 6-1 defeat at home to Tottenham on Sunday, with his contract in Portugal set to expire at the end of the season.

The deal is set to cost United around £18m, and he is likely to provide stern competition for Luke Shaw.

The defender has now reported to the Aon Training Complex to get his deal over the line before the 11pm deadline, and he is set to earn a hefty wage across a five year deal.

Nicolo Schira has reported that Telles has signed for United in long-term deal, during which he will receive £3.6m a season with add ons, as long as he passes his medical later on today.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave supporters an update on their transfer plans following their capitulation at Old Trafford at the weekend, and he hinted that more than one deal will get over the line.

He said: "Tonight is about addressing this and we know what we want to do and you'll probably know more tomorrow night when the window closes.

“We need to look at what we've got here and make more of that.

"The world is a different world at the moment. Everyone wants to have the squad they want as early as possible, we are still in a position where we can add to this.

“I’ve got a squad that I need to get more out of but we can still maybe, by tomorrow night, have an addition."

Club legend Gary Neville has been left disappointed by the transfer business up until now, and he described the Jadon Sancho saga as embarrassing.

“I just don’t think they’re smart enough and wise enough and agile enough in the market,” Neville told Off The Ball.

Before adding: “They’re being outwitted in the market by the other clubs and if you lose recruitment you don’t win the league, it’s as simple as that.”

Before stating: “The Sancho thing is embarrassing. It’s been going on now for four months.”
