Bukayo Saka has signed a new long-term deal with Arsenal and there could be more good news for the youngster.

Arsenal announced on Wednesday afternoon the talented winger had penned a new contract with the club having made a name for himself since coming through the ranks in north London.

Saka currently occupies the No.77 shirt having established himself as a regular, first under Unai Emery, and now Mikel Arteta.

Having such a high squad number is usually saved for youngsters coming through into the first team or those on the periphery of the squad.

But news of Henrikh Mkhitaryan likely extending his loan at Roma could see him given the No.7 next term.

The Armenian made three appearances for Arsenal this season wearing the No.7 jersey before sealing his loan move to Roma.

Bukayo Saka currently wears the No.77 shirt for Arsenal but that could change next season

Mkhitaryan, who ironically now wears No.77 for Roma, has extended his loan spell at Roma until the end of the current season, with a preliminary agreement in place for the midfielder to remain at the Serie A club for the next campaign too.

That frees up the No.7 shirt with Saka the most likely candidate to take it.

The 18-year-old took to Twitter immediately after the club’s announcement to express his delight at the news.
