Arsenal fans have a Dominik Szoboszlai theory after the midfielder liked a Gunners Instagram post.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Hungarian as talks reportedly took place with the RB Salzburg player last month.

With eight goals and nine assists this season, the midfielder’s incredible goal for his country against Scotland in the Nations League got tongues wagging in north London.

And Szoboszlai took interest in activity at Arsenal on Thursday as he liked an Instagram post on the club’s Europa League win over Rapid Wien.

Social media account 433 shared a snap of Lacazette celebrating the opening goal with the scored confirmed.

The post received thousands of likes – including one from Szoboszlai, which was soon noticed by fans.

But they believe the midfielder was showing his appreciation for a different reason.

“He's probably happy that we beat their rivals,” one supporter said.

RB Salzburg are sitting top of the Austrian Bundesliga by two points, with Rapid being their nearest rivals as they have won the last seven titles.

Another commented: “Do you guys know that he plays for Salzberg and Rapid Wien are their rivals?”

While a third wrote: “He’s a Salzburg player, so I assume Rapid are their main rivals.”

And a fourth simply added: “It’s because Rapid lost.”

Szoboszlai has been at Salzburg since 2017, with 25 goals in 78 appearances to his name.

While Arsenal have been pushing for his signature, a move to parent club RB Leipzig could be on the cards.

Christian Falk of German outlet Bild said: “According to our information, the player will go to RB Leipzig, probably already during the winter transfer market.”

While Hungary national boss Marco Rossi also hinted that the move across the border is on, telling CalcioNapoli24 TV [via CalcioMercato]: “My feeling is that he is more likely to end up in Germany.

“He is ready to make the leap, going to the Bundesliga the pace is less long. The Austrian football of Salzburg is similar to that of the Bundesliga.”

The midfielder’s performances have seem him compared to Manchester United legend David Beckham.
