Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has been hailed as the 'real deal' after a storming performance in the 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.
The Gunners defence has been a constant subject of critique over the years with a number of players trying and failing to provide the quality and security required.
But there are high hopes Gabriel can be the answer to their problem after an impressive start to life to English football.
And on Sunday, he caught the eye alongside Rob Holding as they kept United forwards Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford largely quiet and earned an important clean sheet.
And speaking on Sky Sports, Jamie Redknapp was effusive in his praise for Gabriel.
"He’s a leader and the way that he wants to play, and to press high up the pitch, he loves to do that," Redknapp said.
"He loves to win challenges, he got booked early in the game, but I think he still kept his composure, made good tackles and I like the way that he’s aggressive.
"He wants to win the ball, he’s composed as well.
"He looks like the real deal.
"Again, it’s an area where Arsenal have had a lot of problems over the years, trying to find that defender, someone who can do the dirty work, someone who can make this sort of stuff look easy.
"So, I was very, very impressed with him today."
