Arsenal took to their London Colney training centre for the final training session before Saturday's FA Cup final against Chelsea.

The Gunners need to win to secure their place in the Europa League for next season, having finished outside the qualification spots in the Premier League.

Frank Lampard's Blues are odds-on favourites for the historic Wembley clash.

Most of the usual faces were present for the session led by Mikel Arteta, though there were also some noticeable absentees.

So what were the main things you may have missed from the final training session? Daily Star Sport takes a closer look.

Scorching hot

Temperatures in north London reached 37 degrees on Friday

Friday was one of the hottest days on record in the UK, but Arsenal certainly didn’t let the heat get in the way of their final preparations for the Saturday’s cup final.

There wasn’t a cloud in the sky at at London Colney as Mikel Arteta put his players through their paces for the last time before they meet Chelsea.

The Spaniard still favoured full-length tracksuit bottoms over shorts though, while Reiss Nelson was wearing an underlayer (though it may have been a cooling one).

No Mesut Ozil or Matteo Guendouzi

Guendouzi and Ozil were not present during Friday's training session

The club’s highest-paid player was nowhere to be seen in north London, and it turns out he’s not even in the country!

Ozil is said to have spent the last few days in Turkey, meaning he won’t be involved at Wembley, or possibly even inside the stadium for that matter.

It remains to be seen if the German will be sold this summer, but another outcast under Arteta in Matteo Guendouzi was also absent and is set to be sold before the end of the transfer window.

Arteta gearing up for first final

Mikel Arteta was all business on Friday as he gears up for his first final as a manager

He was involved in plenty of cup finals as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, but Saturday will be Arteta’s first final as a manager.

The Spaniard took his usual hands on approach in the sun, threading balls for his players and patrolling the pitch like a security guard.

Arteta looked far from nervous at London Colney, and incredibly focussed on getting the job done to secure European football for next season.

Aubameyang’s last training session?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was joking around as always during the session

Was this Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s last ever training session for Arsenal? That could well be the case.

There is a genuine possibility Aubameyang could be sold this summer in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

But Arteta hopes that lifting the FA Cup will inspire him to sign a new contract.

“Winning the trophy helps you believe. If you wear the armband and lift that cup, that will help,” he said.

“I wouldn't like to link these two factors [keeping Aubameyang and European football], but financially it would be helpful. We've got an opportunity to do both.

“It's a package. You need a lot of ingredients on the table to persuade a player. At the moment he is with us and I think he should be proud of where he is.

“It generates trust when you win titles. It generates moments when together you go through some good emotions.”
