Arsenal are reportedly lining up a second bid for Lyon star Houssem Aouar after their first offer was turned down.
The Gunners have been linked with the midfielder in recent days with Mikel Arteta still eager to strengthen his squad.
He needs to move quick though with the transfer deadline a week on Monday and plenty of bosses still scrambling for moves.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has indicated that an offer of £32m (€35m) had been rejected by the Ligue 1 outfit.
Though Arsenal are not being put off with football.london claiming the Premier League outfit are ready to increase their offer to £36.5m (€40m) with a further £9m in potential add-ons.
Aouar has previously been valued by Lyon at around £55m though reports have suggested they could be forced to lower their price in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Aouar has been linked with several top European clubs this summer, including Juventus and Manchester City though Arsenal are believed to have been the only side to make a formal offer.
Arteta has suggested there is a chance of further business with Gabriel and Willian having headed to the Emirates this summer.
"We're still open to improving our team," he said ahead of his side's Monday night trip to Liverpool.
"We are looking at different options, depending on what happens with some of our players here. We are getting prepared just in case we need to do something.
