The 28-year-old looks certain to leave the Cherries following their relegation to the Championship last season and the subsequent departure of Eddie Howe, but his destination remains uncertain.
Wilson scored eight top flight goals last season to bring his overall tally in the league to 41 in 126 outings.
Football Insider have reported that although Villa have had a bid of over £20m accepted by Bournemouth, Wilson would prefer a move to Newcastle.
They add that the forward has already agreed personal terms with the Magpies, who have tabled an offer of £20m.
That leaves the player and his current club in a tricky situation, but it is likely that Newcastle will have to match the bid of Villa to secure his services this summer.
New Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall has been open about the future of his star players since taking over the role, and admitted that some of his squad might leave.
In an interview with Sky Sports, he said: “I think with any club that’s relegated from any division there’s always that speculation with players leaving or being linked with other clubs.
“A number of our players are always being linked with moves away, you deal with that as and when it comes around.
“I wouldn’t be sitting here now if I didn’t have assurances.
“If the club had said fire sale, losing eight or nine players, I wouldn’t be sitting here now.”

Newcastle boss Bruce said of his transfer plans back in June: “I think we need four or five players to add to the squad of players we’ve got.
“So, we’ll go to work on that.
“I’ve always said with Jo (Joelinton), I think he’s better playing to a side, that suits him, so it’s quite possible that a centre-forward could be on the list, yeah.”
