Jack Wilshere has explained how Mesut Ozil is the solution to Mikel Arteta's problems with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
However, the German has been left out of both Premier League and Europa League squads at Arsenal.
But that could be amended in January as teams are allowed to reevaluate who is allowed in both with the transfer window opening.
It comes after another shoddy result for the Gunners.
Wolves beat them 2-1 at the Emirates to leave Arsenal 14th in the table - their worst-ever start after 10 games in the Premier League.
Gabriel's first-half goal was the first time they had scored in the league since Aubameyang's penalty against Manchester United.
But the Gunners captain has looked bereft of confidence up front, with that being just the second league goal he has netted this campaign.
Much has been put down to the lack of creativity in midfield, with the likes of Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka slammed.
One man that is renowned for his playmaking abilities is Ozil - but he has been left out of the squad by Arteta.
And that is a mistake, says former Arsenal star Wilshere, and that the 32-year-old could provide assists for Aubameyang.
Wilshere told Sky Sports: “I think he’d be a big player in that team.
“I would love to see Ozil play in that team under Arteta but obviously that’s not happening at the moment.
“He could get on the ball and feed the likes of Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
“I loved played with him. He was a top player.
"It’s a shame but what is happening is happening and no one knows, but I’m sure everyone will find out one day.”
Ozil will be out of contract at the end of the season, when his £350,000-a-week deal comes to a close.
Where the World Cup winner will go remains to be seen but there is interest from Turkey and the United States.
DC United have been strongly linked and could even land him in January if all parties agree.
