Ben White's agent has confirmed his client was disappointed a transfer to Leeds United fell through this summer.

The 22-year-old has been an absolute star at the back for the Whites, playing in all 46 matches in the Championship as they landed the title.

Marcelo Bielsa was desperate to hold onto the defender but he has returned to parent-club Brighton.

Leeds made multiple bids for the Englishman but to no avail.

Instead, White has signed a four-year contract - pledging his future to the Amex Stadium.

It puts to bed any speculation over his immediate future, with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United also interested.

But his agent Alex Levack has admitted White was disappointed a move to Leeds never happened.

He told Sky Sports: "Of course [he is disappointed]. He enjoyed his time at Leeds incredibly.

"They looked after him so well, the fans were fantastic to him. But when a football club don't want to sell it's very difficult.

"This new contract is well deserved for Ben. He has worked incredibly hard, and has not been afraid of going out on loan.

"We have been delighted with his progress.

"Our academy and player loan department have done an excellent job to bring Ben through the club's younger teams, and then in helping to oversee his development while out on loan.

"He has played at almost every level of the professional game, and his development has been very well managed.

"His next challenge is to show his capabilities at the highest level of the domestic game."
