Ilkay Gundogan has tested positive for Covid-19 just hours ahead of Manchester City's opening Premier League game of the season at Wolves.

Pep Guardiola's team go to Molineux this evening (8.15pm) as they look to kick off their campaign with three points.

But they will be without German midfielder Gundogan, who has contracted coronavirus.

A City statement read: "Manchester City FC can confirm that Ilkay Gundogan has tested positive for COVID-19.

"Ilkay is now observing a 10-day period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine.
