Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Alex Telles has tested positive for Covid-19.

Soon after the boss' comments, the club's official Twitter account shared the news with supporters.

"Ole confirms that Alex Telles has tested positive for COVID-19. We wish him a speedy recovery and a swift return to the group," they wrote.

Telles was left out of this evening's emphatic 5-0 win over RB Leipzig, with fans thinking Solskjaer simply left the Brazilian out in favour of Luke Shaw.

"Telles has tested positive for coronavirus, he's been out for a few days. No symptoms, he'll be fine, back soon," said Solskjaer at full-time.

United didn't need the former Porto star, who arrived late in the summer window.

The Red Devils left it to late to stick five beyond Leipzig, with Marcus Rashford scoring three off the bench.

Solskjaer was bold with his team selection, finally giving in to fan pressure as Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek started alongside each other in midfield.

Mason Greenwood found the net early on, calmly slotting the ball home following a Pogba through ball.

Rashford came off the bench to score a hat-trick in the second-half, while Martial scored a penalty in the closing stages.

"Marcus Rashford came on and did well but the groundwork was there from the team, that's what you want that from the subs," Solskjaer said.
