Edinson Cavani spoke with Ander Herrera and Angel Di Maria before joining Manchester United.
The Uruguay striker left PSG in the summer after seven full seasons at the club, a period in which he netted 200 goals in 301 games and overtook Zlatan Ibrahimovic as their record scorer.
The 33-year-old has now admitted to talking to both Herrera and Di Maria before deciding on his move to the Premier League, two players who have very different spells at Old Trafford.
Herrera walked away from the club with the respect of the fans last summer, whereas Di Maria flopped after his club-record move from Real Madrid and has not looked back on his time in Manchester fondly.
Cavani told the official United website on Friday: “Yes, I spoke with Ander a lot, as well as other team-mates, like Angel Di Maria, who I was also with at Paris.
“It was genuinely getting to the last minute and I called Ander to have a chat. I have a lot of admiration for Ander, for the kind of person he is and I had the feeling that his words were going to help me out, by telling me a bit about what it was like at United.
“And so, yes, it’s true that after I’d finished talking with Ander, we came to an agreement here with the club.
“I hadn’t known Ander for too long, but we formed and enjoyed a close friendship during that time at PSG, and today we are still very good mates.”
Herrera has spoken fondly of his time at United since leaving, and wrote in his letter to fans at the time: “Yes… this is a sad moment to be honest because I’ve enjoyed the last five years at this club so much, but I’m here to announce that I’m moving and I will not be a Manchester United player next season.
“Of course I have a message for the fans because they have been incredible with me. I have so much to thank all of them for – they have given me so much love and support.
“As I said before, this is not an easy day or an easy decision but sometimes in life you have to take decisions.”

With Di Maria’s wife Jorgelina saying of his time in England last year: “I didn’t want to go to Manchester because at that moment in time.
Before adding: “It was horrible! All of it was horrible, we went to the house and we were like, ‘See you later guys, we’re out of here’.
