Manchester United star Donny van de Beek’s previous comments on Hakim Ziyech will be a boost to Chelsea.

Blues summer signing Ziyech is yet to make his competitive debut for his new club having suffered an injury in pre-season.

But he could feature this weekend as the Premier League returns having spent time with Morocco on international duty.

Ziyech and Van de Beek were previously team-mates at Ajax with both making moves to England over the summer.

And Dutchman Van de Beek, who headed to Old Trafford in the transfer window, previously opened up about how confident he was that Ziyech would shine in English football.

"Yes, if I hear all the reports, I will assume that it is already far,” Van de Beek told Voetbal Primeur back in February.

"I wish him everything and hope he will do very well there. It is a step he deserves in my opinion.

“He is a fantastic football player, so I am confident that he will do well.

"I think it's a very nice club with a lot of young players that can grow. I think Hakim will certainly be in [the right] place.

“Everyone, of course, had their opinion about that, but I think it's a nice club for him."

Another former Ajax star in Jesper Olsen also believes Ziyech will be a star at Stamford Bridge when fully fit.

He told Stats Perform News: "There's no doubt he will be a success at Chelsea.

"I think Frank Lampard has done a really good job. He knows the club inside out. Seems to be very good in terms of management and playing style.

“This is the important thing, he wants to attack and play offensive football. That will not be a problem [for Ziyech].

"The players coming out of Ajax, they are like that. Being a defender or midfielder, you are attacking-minded. No doubt about that."
