Chelsea have completed the signing of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen for a club record deal.
The German midfielder arrives for around £70m plus add-ons and has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Havertz has impressed in the Bundesliga over the past couple of seasons, catching the eye of many of Europe's top teams.
But it is Chelsea who have won the race for his signature and the 21-year-old will link up with fellow summer signing and countryman Timo Werner.
Havertz made 45 appearances in total last season, scoring 18 and setting up another nine goals. He will certainly add competition to a midfield that already includes Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley.
On completing the move to Stamford Bridge, Havertz said: “I am very happy and proud to be here,
“For me it is a dream come true to play in a big club like Chelsea and I can’t wait to meet all the players and the trainers. Yeah, I am very happy to be here!”
Havertz joins Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva, as well as Werner, in heading to west London this summer.
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: “Kai is one of the best players of his age in world football, so we are very happy that his future lies at Chelsea.
“He has proven pedigree in one of the best leagues in Europe, he plays for the German national side and he is an exciting, dynamic talent.
“We are delighted to be able to add his versatility and quality to the squad before the season begins.”
