Frank Lampard has admitted he does not know whether Chelsea will make any moves in this month’s transfer window.

The Blues had a busy summer as they strengthened their squad, though have struggled of late on the pitch.

A defeat by Arsenal was followed by a draw with Aston Villa with Chelsea taking on Manchester City in their next Premier League match.

Lampard’s focus is on Sunday’s clash though he also has one eye on the transfer window, which opens on Saturday.

Though the boss does not know how busy he will be, saying: “I’m not sure yet. I have ideas. We have a big squad, we will see if that changes.

“We will see if we feel we can strengthen in the right way but we are not jumping up and down to do so. It's a long month.”

Chelsea have regularly been linked with a move for West Ham star Declan Rice, who has racked up over 100 appearances for the Hammers.

Transfer guru Ian McGarry recently said: "Despite speculation to the contrary over Frank Lampard's future as head coach at the club, it's our information that he has the full confidence of Chelsea's main director and defacto chief executive Marina Granosvkaia with regards to his tenure as manager of the club.

"That will be backed in January. First of all by offering Olivier Giroud, who is someone Lampard recognises and rates very highly as a key member of his squad, a new contract.

"Of course the club policy is not to offer any player over 30 more than a year. Giroud has six months left on his contract but negotiations will begin with his agent with regards to a one-year extension.

"Not only that, as we have reported consistently, Declan Rice the West Ham defensive midfielder who Lampard covets very much with his regard to his ability to play in a back three and just ahead of defence in terms of playing as a disruptor as he does for West Ham, that chase will be upped in this window upcoming.

"However the expectation at Chelsea is that perhaps West Ham prefer to sell in the summer and not in the January window.

"However Chelsea will continue to pursue it in both windows with the player as they understand it intimating that he would certainly be very attracted to a move to west London. That's something they will continue to pursue."
