Edinson Cavani says he can't wait to get going for 'one of the greatest clubs in the world'.

The Uruguayan hitman arrives in England on a one-year deal, with the option of a second.

Cavani, 33, has been a free agent since leaving PSG earlier this summer, calling time on his spell in the French capital where he leaves as the club's highest goalscorer.

The striker insists he has been working hard to keep himself in shape, and is looking forward to getting the chance to play for United this term.

“Manchester United is one of the greatest clubs in the world, so it is a real honour to be here," he said after his deal was confirmed this evening.

"I’ve worked really hard during the time off and I feel eager to compete and represent this incredible club.

"I have played in front of some of the most passionate supporters in football during my career and I know that it will be the same in Manchester. I cannot wait to experience the Old Trafford atmosphere when it is safe for the fans to return.

"I look forward to continuing to write my little story inside the book of football and I know that’s why my focus has to remain the same as always - work, work, work.

And manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is equally happily about the new arrival.
