Edinson Cavani has given Manchester United fans a positive update amid fears of Covid-19.

The Uruguayan, who arrived at Old Trafford on transfer deadline day as a free agent from PSG, has been on international duty.

Having scored his first goal for the club in the 3-1 win over Everton, the 33-year-old continued to find the net with goals against Brazil and Colombia.

But United were left concerned after PSG’s all-time top scorer was found to be in a squad with eight players testing positive for Covid-19.

Cavani, though, shared an image on his Instagram story showing he was back in the city on Friday.

Sitting in his flat while watching a game and drinking South American drink mate, he added the Manchester location widget to his image.

He was allowed back into the country as an elite athlete but the 33-year-old may have to stay in quarantine for two weeks if he tests positive.

But it would not be the first time that the Uruguayan has contracted the illness.

Cavani was forced to quarantine for a fortnight after signing for United from PSG in the summer transfer window on a free transfer.

The former Napoli ace had arrived in Manchester from Paris and had to adhere to the strict rules in place concerning people who travel to the UK from countries on the banned list.

Cavani then revealed he had contracted coronavirus after returning from a holiday in Ibiza with some of his old PSG teammates following the end of last season.

The 32-year-old was brought to United as an experienced head for youngsters Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood to learn from.

And Scott McTominay has revealed how the forward has made a “demanding” impact on his new team-mates in training.

Cavani was not the only Uruguayan to join United over the summer, though, as Facundo Pellistri was signed from Penarol.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears to have already broken a promise he made to the club when the club signed the 18-year-old.
