England crashed out of the Nations League following a bashing in Belgium.
Gareth Southgate 's toothless Three Lions went down 2-0 to the world's No.1 side following first-half goals from Youri Tielemens and Dries Mertens.
The loss leaves England with no chance of qualifying from League A, Group 2 - and renders Wednesday's clash with Iceland at Wembley meaningless.
Leicester ace Tielemans fired the home side ahead on 10 minutes, before a stunning free-kick from Mertens 13 minutes later sealed the win for Roberto Martinez's men.
The defeat was a crushing setback for Southgate, who led his team to the semi-finals of the competition in 2019.
It was also a miserable way for captain Harry Kane to mark his 50th appearance for his country.
To make matters worse Jordan Henderson failed to appear for the second half, raising fears he has aggravated a muscle problem in what would be another huge setback for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
Looking at the game as a whole, Daily Star Sport analysed the player ratings from both teams.
Jordan PICKFORD 6 - Under scrutiny after club form. Beaten by a big deflection and a brilliant free-kick
Kyle WALKER 6 - Showed his pace and kept the ball moving. Highlight reel backheel flick in the second half
Eric DIER 5 - Survived an injury scare in the warm-up. Fatal giveaway for the first goal. Not alert enough to danger.
Tyrone MINGS 6 - Unlucky deflection for the first goal. Caught out of position a couple of times but recovered well
Kieran TRIPPIER 6 - Got himself into good crossing positions and his delivery as good as ever
Jordan HENDERSON 5 - Late to press at times and not much of a factor going forward before making way
Declan RICE 6 - Unlucky to give away the free-kick for the goal. Stuck to his task well
Ben CHILWELL 5 - Chelsea man swung in a couple of dangerous crosses but limped off in the first half
Mason MOUNT 7 - Missed a couple of decent first-half chances but always involved in the action
Harry KANE 8 - Had a header cleared off the line and lots of nice touches on his 50th cap
Jack GREALISH 8 - Often crowded out but still created chances. Belgium resorted to fouling him
Bukayo SAKA (for Chilwell 38) 6 - Wasteful in possession
Harry WINKS (for Henderson 46) 6 - Used the ball well
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (for Mount 69) 6 - Showed glimpses
Jadon SANCHO (for Trippier 70) 5 - Wasted a good chance in space in the box
Unused subs: Keane, Pope, Maitland-Niles, Foden, Abraham, Henderson D, Bellingham
Thibaut COURTOIS 6 - Rarely looked troubled in the Belgium goal. England needed to test him more
Toby ALDERWEIRELD 7 - Made some key interventions. A big performance from a key player
Jason DENAYER 7 - Strong in the tackle and comfortable for too long against everything England threw at him
Jan VERTONGHEN 7 - Reads the game so well. Showed all his years of experience
Thomas MEUNIER 5 - Lucky not to concede a penatly. Didn’t look comfortable with players running at him
Alex WITSEL 6 - Solid and methodical. Breaks up play well but also slows it down so much
Youri TIELEMANS 7 - Scored a deflected opener and thoroughly enjoyed himself in midfield
Thorgan HAZARD 5 - Accidentally caught Trippier in the face with a stray boot in the second half
Kevin DE BRUYNE 7 - Floated around causing problems all night. Always a danger
Romelu LUKAKU 7 - Better than ever. Involved in the first goal and ran the channels well. A menace
Dries MERTENS 7 - Hit a brilliant free kick and was involved in the first goal too. Industrious
