French midfielder Blaise Matuidi has shared an emotional message upon leaving Juventus after three years at the club.
Matuidi and Juventus have mutually agreed to terminate the final year of his contract in Turin, paving the way for him to become David Beckham’s first big signing at Inter Miami in the MLS.
Matuidi won five trophies at Juventus, and except for Paulo Dybala (134), no player made more appearances across all competitions than him, turning out 133 times for the Bianconeri.
"Having been a member of the family @juventusfc is a dream come true, an honour," he wrote on Twitter.
"I discovered an incredible institution, team-mates who have become more than that.
"I will always be your number 1 fan, or rather number 14. Thank you."
The French midfielder had undergone medicals in Paris earlier this week after Juve were knocked out of the Champions League by Lyon.
And the Bianconeri made an official statement confirming Matuidi's departure and also honouring him for his unwavering commitment to the cause.
"With our colours on his back, he fought and played his heart out in every single game; placing constant pressure on the opponents, tearing apart the run of play and ever so eloquently relaunching the ball into action.
"After three years and five titles won (three Scudetti, one Coppa Italia and one Italian Super Cup), Blaise Matuidi and Juventus say goodbye with the consensual termination of the player’s contract.
"A 2018 World Cup winner with France in Russia, the midfielder has a winning DNA, which he had repeatedly demonstrated with Paris Saint-Germain, the team he played for before moving to Turin in the summer of 2017."
Matuidi will link up with Inter Miami, who have lost all five matches so far in their debut Major League Soccer season, imminenetly
But Beckham's project have have been stung by a snub from Mario Gotze, who was approached after leaving Borussia Dortmund.
The German playmaker, 28, was offered wages worth £100,000-a-week.
