Leeds United will reportedly turn to potential targets from Chelsea and Brentford after failing with their approach for Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster.

Marcelo Bielsa is understood to be looking to sign another frontman this summer as he looks to ensure he has enough firepower up front for the Premier League.

Patrick Bamford led the line for Leeds last season, but has very little experience playing in the top flight.

The Whites have already broken their club record fee, splashing £27m for Spain international Rodrigo from Valencia.

And they are now eyeing up two other targets, having lost out on landing Liverpool young gun Brewster, according to Football Insider.

It’s understood that Jurgen Klopp did not want to let the 20-year-old leave on loan again, suggesting he has him in his first-team plans.

Football Insider claim that Leeds’ first choice target is Brentford striker Ollie Watkins.

The former Exeter man helped to fire the Bees into the Championship play-offs last season with 25 league goals.

Meanwhile, Chelsea cast off Michy Batshuayi is also reportedly to be on their radar if they cannot persuade Watkins to leave west London.

The Belgium international has fallen firmly down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and is thought to be available this summer.

Leeds lost out on securing the services of Ben White permanently after he tied down his long-term future at Brighton.

And Kalvin Phillips admitted that while it was a blow, they needed to move on and find someone else to fill his shoes.

“It’s a huge blow to Leeds but they will have planned for this eventuality,” Phillips said. “You do not put all of your eggs in one basket.

“Losing out on a player that looked like he wanted to come to the club and did so well for them last year will be a blow but Bielsa is experienced enough to know that transfers do not always come off. I am sure they have got other options and they need to forget about Ben White now because he is a Brighton player for the next four years.

“It is disappointing because they brought him in as an unknown, got the best out of him but now Bielsa has to do it all over again with someone else.”
