The Carabao Cup quarter-final draw takes place tonight after Liverpool and Arsenal's fourth-round tie at Anfield.

Holders Manchester City are in the hat following their win at Burnley on Wednesday.

Manchester United, meanwhile, saw off Brighton for the second time in a matter of days at the Amex Stadium.

Newcastle, Everton, Tottenham and Brentford are all through to the last eight too.

Aston Villa are playing Stoke this evening, while Jurgen Klopp and Mikel Arteta are going head-to-head on Merseyside three days after their Premier League showdown.

Key Events

That's a wrap then!

Thank you for following the action tonight with us, at least we had a penalty shootout to enjoy!

We'll reconvene for a place in the semi-finals in just under three months' time!

Hopefully Covid-19 will have calmed down by then...

Until Christmas, goodbye!

Tie of the round?

It has to be Arsenal vs City! Mikel Arteta's reward for winning at Anfield is a showdown with his old boss Pep Guardiola.

Sure he would have rather avoided a clash with the holders, though!

When are the ties?

The quarter-finals are a while away yet...

The ties commence on the week of December 21.

Christmas will be cancelled for some teams! While four will get an early present!

Draw in full!

  • Stoke vs Tottenham
  • Brentford vs Newcastle
  • Arsenal vs Manchester City
  • Everton vs Manchester United

Last tie

Everton vs Manchester United

Third one has to be big

And it is... Arsenal vs Manchester City

Second tie

Brentford vs Newcastle

Here we go!

Stoke vs Tottenham!

Jamie Redknapp to take charge

The former Liverpool captain will be picking the balls out of the bowl, but his former club won't be in there!

However, Spurs are!

Full list of teams

So the last eight in tonight's draw are:

  • Tottenham
  • Manchester United
  • Manchester City
  • Newcastle
  • Everton
  • Brentford
  • Stoke
  • Arsenal

Stay tuned for the draw!

Arsenal penalty No6

Joe Willock... WINS IT! The ball squirms under Adrian and Arsenal squeeze through to the quarter-finals!

Liverpool penalty No6

Harry Wilson sees his spot-kick SAVED by Bernd Leno! It's Arsenal's tie now... 4-4.

Arsenal penalty No5

Nicolas Pepe slots it home, 4-4! And we're into sudden death...

Liverpool penalty No5

Curtis Jones holds his nerve, 4-3!

Arsenal penalty No4

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is ice cool as he struts up and sends Adrian the wrong way. 3-3 with four taken each.

Liverpool penalty No4

Deja Vu?! Divock Origi puts it in exactly the same place and it's saved by Bernd Leno!

Still 3-2...

Arsenal penalty No3

Mohamed Elneny MISSES! Adrian saves down to his right! And it was not a good penalty, far too close to Adrian's body, as the Reds keeper nearly jumps over it! 3-2

Liverpool penalty No3

Takumi Minamino's penalty is emphatic, 3-2! Perfection from both teams so far.

Arsenal penalty No2

Cedric Soares places it just out of Adrian's reach, 2-2!

Liverpool penalty No2

Georginio Wijnaldum, another sub on the night, hits the back of the net! Top corner too! 2-1.

Arsenal penalty No1

Substitute Alexandre Lacazette sends Adrian the wrong way. 1-1.

Liverpool penalty No1

James Milner first! And of course he scores!

Penalties!

Despite a very suspicious-looking handball from James Milner inside the Liverpool penalty area, Arsenal's appeals fell on deaf ears.

Who would have thought we needed VAR after all?!

Anyway, it finishes 0-0 at Anfield - and spot-kicks await us! Stay tuned!

United hunting trophy

Juan Mata was pivotal for Manchester United on Wednesday night.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows he can rely on his fringe players to take them far in the competition this season...

State of play

So seven of the eight are decided as things stand with 20 minutes to play at Anfield.

  • Tottenham
  • Manchester United
  • Manchester City
  • Newcastle
  • Brentford
  • Stoke
  • Everton
  • Liverpool/Arsenal

Certainly not!

Stoke in the hat

Well, well, well... last season's finalists Aston Villa have been dumped out of the Carabao Cup by League One Stoke City.

Sam Vokes' first-half header at Villa Park has put a nasty dent in Dean Smith's side's solid-looking start to the season.

Only one more to be decided now...

Good evening!

Welcome to our coverage of the Carabao Cup quarter-final draw!

Liverpool vs Arsenal currently remains goalless at Anfield as we begin the second half.

And if it goes to penalties, then the draw will be delayed a tad later.

Hopefully, though, we won't have to all pull an all-nighter! Stay tuned...
