Liverpool supporters have not been left impressed by Jurgen Klopp’s strong selection against Aston Villa’s kids.
Their FA Cup third-round tie is going ahead after a major Covid-19 outbreak at Villa.
The club’s training ground was shut this week and 10 first-teamers have tested positive for the virus.
Manager Dean Smith and his Villa players have had to self-isolate, so Liverpool are facing their teenagers instead.
Despite a routine victory expected for the out-of-form Reds, Klopp is taking no chances.
He has named the likes of Mohamed Salah and Fabinho in his starting XI to give his team some confidence.
But there is also a risk some could pick up knocks just a week before Liverpool take on title rivals and arch-rivals Manchester United in the Premier League next Sunday at Anfield.
One Liverpool fan blasted on Twitter after seeing the team: “Why the f*** we playing practically a full 11 in the FA Cup when we play United next week?”
Another asked: “Salah? OMD, you’re asking for our first-team players to be injured.”
A third put: “Seems Klopp learned nothing from his mistakes against Midtjylland. He got Jota, Keita and Tsimikas all injured, let's hope no one else gets injured or catches Covid from this meaningless game”.
One Reds supporter put: “Why play Fabinho? Not worth the risk in a game like this ffs. I understand playing everyone else but not him”.
And a final fan added: “Mane and Salah?!”
Liverpool have had many injury issues already this season and won't want to suffer any more unnecessary setbacks tonight.
Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip are among those who miss out tonight for the Reds, although the latter could recover in time to play United next weekend.
