Liverpool fans have joked that Dayot Upamecano's terrible performance in RB Leipzig's Champions League defeat to Manchester United has all but sealed a January move to Anfield.
Upamecano and his Leipzig team-mates suffered an embarrassing 5-0 defeat at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, with a hat-trick from man of the moment Marcus Rashford and goals from Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood doing the damage.
The France international, who has been linked heavily with a move to the Premier League, endured a torrid game and was run ragged by second-half substitute Rashford.
And some Reds fans reckon his nightmare display at the Theatre of Dreams has paved the way for a winter move to Merseyside.
One Reds supporter tweeted: "Upamecano dropped a disasterclass today so Leipzig get knocked out of the Champions League so he can join Liverpool in January.'
Another said: "Now that’s a clear sign Upamecano is joining Liverpool in January."
"Upamecano looks like a Liverpool player," another supporter of the Merseyside club said.

"Get the deal done tonight after the game before he goes home and we’ll see him 9 weeks time."
One Kopite even reckons Rashford's destruction of Upamecano will have drastically lowered his asking price, saying: "Rashford feeding hungry kids and lowering Upamecano's transfer fee for Liverpool to get him in January. Great guy."
Manchester United are understood to be one of the teams interested in acquiring the services of Upamecano, although former Red Devil Rio Ferdinand was far impressed by what he saw of the 22-year-old on Wednesday.
"This is about being ruthless but I thought Upamecano had a nightmare today," Ferdinand told BT Sport. "This is the ruthlessness.
"There was no doubt in your mind, once he went through there, the confidence he’s showing at the moment and just his intent of hitting the back of the net and getting amongst the goals.
"Game over. There’s a venom when he hits it like that."
