Jurgen Klopp admits he won't be able to keep all of Liverpool's midfielders happy as he warned rotation will be key this season.
The Reds completed the £25m signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.
It means Klopp has an embarrassment of riches in midfield with eight senior players in the position.
Thiago joins Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Gini Wijnaldum, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Curtis Jones in midfield where Klopp usually plays three in a 4-3-3 formation.
“I cannot keep a player happy,” said Klopp ahead of tomorrow's clash with Chelsea.
“You have to be happy by yourself. I'm not really worried about that.
“If we have more than three midfield players for example and we play 4-3-3 then a couple of players will not start.
“Some will come on, some will not have the opportunity to come on, or not in the squad for a match day. That is how it is.
“My job is to show the players how important they are in every moment.
“Whether it's in training or in the starting line up or on the bench or a week later in exactly the same situations and stuff like this.”
Klopp also insists Thiago's arrival will not impact on Wijnaldum's situation with the Dutchman having less than a year on his contract at Anfield.
But after a short summer break and the season being packed into a smaller time frame because of the coronavirus pandemic, Klopp needs the extra options at his disposal.
Especially as the Kop boss is annoyed the Premier League voted against allowing five substitutions in games this season.

He added: “We have too many games. I cannot prepare for a normal season when the season is not normal. It just doesn't work.
“I said it because we do not have the opportunity to change five times [make five subs], we have to find other ways how we can make sure the players are as fresh as possible in the moment. It needs that rotation.
“We have to react. If everyone is fit then rotation is absolutely necessary otherwise it doesn't work, it just doesn't work.”
