Liverpool fans are beginning to criticise owners FSG following the Reds’ FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.

Liverpool dumped out of the cup after losing 3-2 at Old Trafford with Jurgen Klopp opting for Fabinho and Rhys Williams in defence.

Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are both in battles to play again this season due to knee injuries, though Liverpool will not be improving their defence during this month’s transfer window.

It was an error from Fabinho, who is more comfortable in midfield, that allowed United’s winning goal.

The Brazilian fouled Edinson Cavani on the edge of the box with Bruno Fernandes arrowing in the resulting free kick.

And with owners FSG not providing Klopp the funds to improve his back-line, Liverpool fans are beginning to turn on the chiefs.

One wrote on social media: “Ridiculous how FSG aren’t helping Klopp one bit.

“I’d still play these kid centre backs with that new CB cause having the heart of midfield in Fabinho and Henderson both missing, you’re still gonna struggle. There is a reason Fernandinho missing City struggled last year.”

Another added: “Massive gamble relying on Fabinho to cover and all the other make shift options. Looks like FSG are happy to let the club fall back this season.”

While a third fumed: “FSG are a disgrace. Not only will a centre half significantly improve the defence it’ll allow Fabinho to go back into dm and Thiago in a more advanced role too.”

Another Reds supporter commented: “One Fabinho injury away from Nat x Rhys at the back, but FSG looked at this and said get on with it, f***ing joke, I really thought we’d have a CB signed by Jan 1st.”

And one more put: “Wasting Fabinho’s prime playing him at CB when that is only supposed to be an emergency solution. Good job FSG.”
