Lucas Torreira is closing in on a move away from Arsenal, with reports suggesting Torino are in talks over a potential loan deal for the midfielder.
Mikel Arteta has deemed Torreira surplus to requirements at the Emirates this summer, made clear by his decision to leave him out of the squad for last weekend’s opening-day trip to Fulham.
It is believed Arteta wants to cash in on the Uruguayan and fund a move for Atletico Madrid ace Thomas Partey, who has a £45million release clause in his contract.
The Gunners are demanding £22million for his services, but Tuttosport claim Torino are pushing for a loan deal with complicated terms.
The Serie A outfit are believed to be targeting a paid loan with an option-to-buy clause that will only be triggered if certain objectives are reached.
These objectives would reportedly include qualifying for the Europa League, registering a specific number of appearances, goals and assists, and receiving a certain amount of international call-ups.
The amount paid by Torino would depend on each one of these clauses, which is making negotiations with Arsenal extremely complex.
Torreira is said to be keen to join Moreno Longo’s side, nonetheless, and the lack of offers he has received from elsewhere means the move is likely to happen.
Torino have sent a representative to London to get the deal over the line, with just over two weeks to go until the transfer window closes.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal succeed in their pursuit of Partey, who has been identified as a top transfer target by Arteta this summer.

However, French outlet Telefoot Chaine report that the Gunners are preparing a £36million bid for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar instead.
Aouar, who played a key role in Lyon’s run to the Champions League semi-finals last term, is also understood to be on Manchester City’s radar.
