Manchester United are reportedly ready to ship out Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira this summer to make room for Donny van de Beek.

The Dutch midfielder is close to a move to Old Trafford from Ajax after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

United are set to pay £40million for Van de Beek, who will compete with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba for a midfield spot.

But it means others may not be sold in a bid to free up space in what will be a congested area of the pitch next season.

And, according to The Mail , Lingard and Pereira could be the first to leave Old Trafford.

Both have already fallen down the pecking order at the club and will find life even more difficult with new arrivals.

Lingard was only used sparingly by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season, despite scoring in two successive games at the end of the campaign.

But the emergence of Mason Greenwood saw his first team opportunity limited and there had already been rumours that he could leave.

Meanwhile, Pereira has only featured in Europa League and other domestic cup games, with the 24-year-old failing to kick on after a promising start to his United career.

Solskjaer will already have to pick between Pogba, Fernandes, Nemanja Matic, Fred, Scott McTominay, and Van de Beek in the midfield, so Lingard and Pereira will again struggle.

West Ham expressed an interest in signing Lingard previously, while others will likely step up before the end of the window.

Portuguese giants Benfica are thought to be keen on landing Pereira, who should be available for a decent price.

Solskjaer is also hoping to bring in further recruits in other positions and could do with the extra capital to help him out.

The Norwegian is keen on a centre-half, a right winger and potentially another forward before October 5.
