Amad Diallo and Paul Pogba are soon-to-be Manchester United team-mates when the youngster's transfer is confirmed later this month.
But the duo have already met before, back in 2015 when Diallo was a fresh-faced kid asking for a photo with the Frenchman in Italy.
Diallo’s official Instagram page contains the picture, which was taken when Pogba was a Juventus player.
According to the Sun, Pogba already calls the 18-year-old 'kid' and has welcomed him to Old Trafford in recent months.
When Diallo's United move was confirmed in summer, the French World Cup winner sent him the message on Instagram saying "Welcome, kid" with a wink emoji.
Speculation was rife that Diallo could stay at Atalanta until the end of the season, rather than moving this month.
"The transfer market? We are fine, the club is attentive," Atalanta boss Gasperini said.
"There is an internal solution within the club that could be very interesting, even if the team is fine: it is Amad Diallo.
'It is clear that he is going to Manchester United, but he could still remain here for a few months with us. I like him a lot, he's only 18. I'd like him to stay until June, obviously it depends on his club."
However, it appears Diallo's move will materialise in the coming weeks.
But it looks as though the teen may be thrown straight into the under-23 team.
"We felt Facundo would benefit," said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when asked about Facundo Pellestri's U23 spell.
"He started training with the first-team – he did well but we couldn’t give him game-time so we thought we’d give him a run of games in the [Under] 23s and he’s benefited from that.
"His confidence has been given a boost. He’s shown in all the games that he can impact the game.
"With Amad, hopefully we can get him in and we’ll see how the squad looks and how he looks and how he settles as soon as possible.
"They’re both talented players that we believe will have a long career here. It’s important we find the right time."
