Manchester United supporters may get a chance to see new boy Facundo Pellistri sooner than they anticipated.

The 18-year-old arrived on deadline day from Uruguayan side Penarol, with many expecting the forward to be sent straight to development squad.

But Penarol secretary Evaristo Gonzalez claims that Pellistri is joining United’s first team due to what he was told during transfer negotiations for the youngster.

“Pellistri goes straight to the first team," he told Uruguayan outlet Referi.

"Going to play. In the negotiation they asked me if I could guarantee them if he was in the bubble because they need him.

"Then it will be a matter of the manager if he uses him."

But Gonzalez says United were unwilling to meet the player's release clause during negotiations.

“In the talks with Manchester, at one point they told me: ‘due to the club’s policy we don’t pay for release clauses so we send the money to the club directly and you fix that problem'" he added.

Pellistri underwent his medical in Uruguay on Monday and will soon link up with his new team-mates.

And the youngster, who is highly-rated in his native country, is raring to get going in England.

"I have learnt a lot at Penarol and I would like to thank them for everything they have done for me," he told United's official website on deadline day.
